Being a small country, with a dense population in a delta area, a healthy environment is of utmost importance to the Netherlands. It therefore plays a prominent role in Dutch politics and policy-making. As environmental problems do not stop at the borders and solutions have to be sought in international agreements, environment is of interest as well for the Netherlands foreign policy. Therefore you can find an officer in charge of environmental issues in this Embassy.

The task of the Embassy is to provide information on the Netherlands environment, water and nature policy and to inform the Netherlands government on the environmental issues of the Czech Republic.

The Embassy also encourages international cooperation in the field of environment, water and nature.

There are several Dutch ministries dealing with the environment:

•  Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and Environment;
•  Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management  deals with the "wet" environment;
•  Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality deals with nature management;
•  Ministry of Economic Affairs deals with energy management.
